Additionally, WHO reports that almost 10% of newborn deaths worldwide occurred in Nigeria last year. With the country being an attractive hub for commerce, it is naturally at risk for the spread of contagious diseases like flu, dengue, and COVID-19. This further exposes the meager healthcare system in the region. Despite these problems, there hasn’t been an effective emergency response by the government to improve the overall system.
