In the remote communities and isolated villages in Nigeria, access to necessities of life is minimal and, in most cases, non-existent. Growing up and seeing the struggles of several individuals and families living in such circumstances, Rev. Collins I. Anaeche, Ph.D., LMFT, always wondered how he could help. He aims to spread the light of hope for these people who often have difficulties finding hope in their situations. Rev. Collins has seen in these remote communities and villages how women’s lack of access to adequate prenatal healthcare services and several preventable illnesses (e.g., malaria, typhoid, high blood pressure, diabetes, ulcer, etc.) have led to untimely deaths. This leaves families traumatized. In some cases, children have been left orphans, which fuels the recycling of poverty and transmission of trauma to multiple generations. Since his priestly ordination in May 2008, Rev. Collins has used his resources and gifts from his friends and well-wishers to assist those desperately in need in these isolated villages in Nigeria, particularly in Umume Obodokwu, Imo State. Over the years, the demands have continued to grow significantly, necessitating Divine Hope Mission’s incorporation on February 10, 2022, as a non-stock corporation in Connecticut. Divine Hope Mission is also a registered 501(c) (3) tax-exempt charitable non-profit organization with the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
