A new spring of hope was felt on January 6th, 2024, in the Umume-Obodoukwu community and other neighboring towns in Nigeria when residents, guests, and the Divine Hope Mission team gathered to celebrate the official launch of the Divine Hope Health Center project. The launching event was a historic moment for the Umume community, as it marked the first time they witnessed a healthcare center launch with the potential to save lives.
The community was joyful and hopeful at the prospect of having a functional healthcare center in their town. Chinwendu Eze, one of the community’s women leaders, captured the sentiments of many in the community when she expressed her joy, stating, “I am the most happiest person to be part of the event [Divine Hope Health Center launching] and I feel overwhelmed by joy to think of what the existence of a healthcare center would mean in our community….I am so grateful for those who are helping us”. Community members marked the event with cultural dance displays and demonstrated their support for the Divine Hope Mission and its objectives.
